The department of Communication Design of the Trier University of Applied Sciences was tasked by Longuich, a town near Trier, to create a sculptural supplement for their historical war monument. This supplement should point out the importance of peace, constitutional legality and the topicality of war and demolition. My interactive project “Auch jetzt” (engl. “Still now”) stood up to other students’ ideas and will be realised soon. LED modules and photo-electric guards make each of the four satined glass steles glow as soon as a human or an animal walks by. To every stele there is a word attached: “es”, “passiert”, “jetzt”, and “auch” (engl. „It is still happenig“). This is a German sentence meaning the same when said backwards. So everytime someone walks past the monument whenceever, he participates and is actively reminded of the topic: that war is happening right now, at every second and everywhere in the world.
